Engineering and environmental survey of suspended and abandoned wellheads is aimed at monitoring and provision of environmental safety of the Russian offshore ecosystem. In order to get real-time information on wellhead condition (hydrocarbon leaks, annular flows, springs, debris) we perform a general visual inspection (GVI) of the wellhead and surrounding area with video and sonar recordings. Then, baseline observations are made and water, gas and mud samplings taken to the laboratory analysis. This work scope can be done using either divers or ROVs. Fertoing is contracted for 40 inspections a year in the Kara, Barents, Pechora and Okhotsk seas.
